The Buzz from BIKINI BOOTCAMP

Welcome to today's edition of the The Buzz from Bikini Bootcamp. Daily tips, recipes, and advice to help you get in that bikini — and keep you there — straight from the experts at Bikini Bootcamp.

Turn Off the Tube
Don't let the television stand between you and quality time with your family, your significant other, or your food! The TV can be a major distraction during meals. It can eat up precious conversation time and draw your attention away from your meal.

If you've made a habit of eating in front of the tube, this may even have contributed to your weight problems in the first place. Research has shown that people who snack in front of the TV tend to eat more calories than those who don't, while people who eat meals in front of the TV tend to eat higher-fat foods and fewer fruits and vegetables.

Next time you sit down to eat, don't touch that dial! Eat at the table and not on the couch. If you have a television set in your kitchen or dining room, move it. Turn it so that it can't be seen from the table, or take it out of the room entirely. Instead of zoning out and shoveling down your food, use your dinnertime to talk about your day and savor the tastes in your meal. You'll become so accustomed to these relaxed dinners that you'll forget, for just a little while, that you even have a TV!
Send It to Voice Mail
Telephone calls can do just as much to disrupt a family meal as a television set. Make your dining table a phone-free zone. Turn off or silence your cell phone during meals, and let your answering machine take any incoming calls.
