Don't Let Them Eat Cake
In every convenience store and gas station in America, there is a rack right next to the cash register that is meant to entice you to buy something other than that gallon of milk or the fill-up you came for. Yes — the snack cakes. Some might think that indulging every once in a while can't be that bad, but your challenge is to stay away. Many packaged cakes, doughnuts, and even muffins are equivalent in calories and fat (and usually the bad, artery-clogging kind of fat) to a hamburger at a fast-food joint. Next time you find yourself craving any of these items, think of the calories and fat and have some cottage cheese and a piece of fruit or a cup of sugar-free gelatin instead. Your heart and your scale will thank you!
