Day 4 - Recovery
It's imazing how paralyzed I feel, not being able to workout. I do however, have a little experience with it. I tore my ACL in December of 2007. I only lasted 2 days on the couch. I did what I could without using my legs. All stationary resistance training movements. When I could sit on a ball (able to bend my knee), I use 2 & 3lb. dumbbells to punch for 5 to 8 minutes at a time. I burned just as many calories, as though I was speed-walking on a treadmill. The first month I lost 16 pounds (without the use of my legs). NUTRITION was the key. If you are moving less, you have to eat less. The healthier the food, the more you can eat for less calories.
This on the other hand is going to be a little different. I see my doctor on Thursday. You know I'm going to ask exactly what I can get away with, without doing any damage. I don't want to suffer any setbacks. This time, I have my legs but, I probably won't be able to use from my hips to my neck. Hmmmm.....
I want to be ready for a photoshoot withing 6 weeks. Ha! NUTRITION is the key. It always will be. I think about everything I put into my mouth, knowing that I will not be able to burn the calories off with exercise. Of course, thanks to my lean muscle mass, my body is still burning calories naturally.
Good thing I like challenges. It makes me a better trainer and it helps me learn more about the possibilities. For those of you that are obese or in need of losing several layers of body fat (but otherwise healthy), no EXCUSES. It always comes down to moving more and eating less. (Less = more of the healthy stuff).
Let's see who gets to their goal quicker - I like having a handicap, it makes me more focused and determined!
Go for it!
