SUPERBOWL BINGE!
A report was released last week saying that the Superbowl is now 2nd biggest eating holiday of the year--nearly neck and neck with Thanksgiving.
Here are some interesting facts:
1. California avocado growers say about 50 million pounds of avocados will be eaten in the United States today Sunday, most in the form of guacamole.
2. Approximately 11 million pounds of chips will be eaten today.
3. Tofu will not have any room in any superbowl party--it will instead be replaced with meat covered nachos, dripping with cheese (this last one is made up, but probably not far from the truth).
What should we make of this. Here's a couple tips--then it's time to get ready for the game!
1. If you're going to a party, bring pita and hummus, guacamole (great source of fat), or baked chips.
2. Try ground turkey breast in your chili instead of meat (your guests won't know) if you make it just like normal chili.
3. Alternate 1 alcoholic drink with 1 calorie free drink throughout the night.
4. Most important, remember that 1 meal won't really make or break your success--the key, is to get some exercise in today, and then get right back on track tomorrow instead of thinking "I blew it, the rest of the week or month is shot too."
Be smart, be sensible...and enjoy the game (and while the halftime show is really never worth watching anyway, be glad it's not Britney Spears performing!)
