When to Say When
The 5-Factor plan is loaded with so many great-tasting options (just check out all of our great recipes!), but the between-meal snacks can sometimes offer the greatest temptation to forget about portion control. Maybe you allow yourself one extra piece of bruschetta, or you have an extra helping of raspberry gelatin with cottage cheese. Many people think of snacks as indulgences, but on the 5-Factor Diet, that's just not true! Snacks are a way to fit in more energy and nutrients into your day, but they're not an excuse to overdo it. Challenge yourself to stick with the serving size.

Staying Single
If you have a tough time controlling your portions of certain foods, try to buy only single-serving containers or packages. The 100-calorie snack packs that are popular now are a great example, as are fat-free pudding cups, individually wrapped sugar-free ice pops, and even single-serving microwave popcorn bags. A crucial step, though, is to make sure snacking is a limited, finite experience. Get back to work, find an activity, and make sure "snack time" is just that — a few minutes out of your day and then you're back on track.
